Rason-Mt. Kumgang Tourism Begins

Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- Rason-Mt. Kumgang tourism through a sea route has begun in the DPRK on Tuesday.

The cargo-passenger ship Mangyongbong will carry foreign tourists from Rason City in the northeastern tip of Korea to Mt. Kumgang, a world-famous mountain.

The tourists will enjoy the scenic view of the East Sea of Korea and climb the mountain.

It will take 4 nights and 5 days.

The tourism including both sea and land sightseeing, the first of its kind in Korea, is drawing deep interest of foreigners.

The inaugural ceremony of the tourism took place in Rason City on Tuesday, attended by officials of the Rason City People's Committee, citizens and Chinese tourists.

Speeches were made at the ceremony.

After the ceremony, Mangyongbong left Rajin Port, full of tourists. The liner will enter Kosong Port in Kangwon Province Wednesday.

Reporters from China, Russia, France and the United States are aboard the ship to cover the tourism.
