S. Korean Fascist Law Rejected

Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- The south Korean people are strongly calling for the repeal of the "National Security Law", the treacherous and anti-reunification fascist law.

The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) in its statement on August 15 said that recently intensified in south Korea is crackdown on the people on charges of praising and encouraging the north (article 7), one of the most vicious articles of NSL.

The People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Media and Academic Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration and other organizations comprising people of various strata in their statements warned that the authorities would be punished by the people for their anti-reunification moves of cracking down upon the pro-reunification movement organizations and progressives on charges of violation of the fascist law.

The Bar Association for Democratic Society and the People's Solidarity for the Repeal of the "National Security Law" published the "2008-2010 report on NSL". Clarified in the report was rapidly increasing number of those who were charged for violating the NSL. The number increased from 35 in 2006 to 39 in 2007. Since the emergence of the present regime it reached 40 in 2008, 70 in 2009 and 151 in 2010.

Urging the need to abolish the law the report went on:

Many organizations including the Emergency Meeting for Coping with the NSL and the Inchon Headquarters of the Confederation of Trade Unions, victims of the NSL, youth and students and members of the movement organizations for reunification and others from all walks of life disclosed the brutality of the NSL and demanded the repeal of the law.

It is shame on the nation that the evil law still remains in force, inciting the permanent division of the nation and cracking down on the patriotic personages standing for reunification, said media including the Internet newspaper Jaju Minbo and Internet radio "Voice of People", calling for the earlier abolition of the NSL.
