West Displeased with Development of DPRK-Russia Relations: Newspaper

Moscow, August 28 (KCNA) -- The Russian newspaper Pravda August 25 carried an article titled "Russia's Achievements Concerning DPRK Issue Is Bone Stuck in Throat for West."

The Russia visit of Kim Jong Il, leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, drew interest of the west's officials and media, the article said, adding:

The west's media are taking trouble to find out what Kim Jong Il agreed with the Russian leadership. What is more, the west believes that the agreements are impermanent.

At the talks in Ulan-Ude, the DPRK expressed a willingness to resume the six-party talks. Both sides agreed to lay a gas pipe across the DPRK territory.

The U.S. newspaper Wall Street Journal surmised that, because several rounds of talks bore no fruits, the talks on a gas pipe would end in failure. But, the surmise went wrong.

New York Times gave misgivings about the longtime effect of the results of the talks. In actuality, however, the misgivings also proved wrong and the DPRK nuclear program did not make the talks difficult.
