S. Korean Conservative Forces Hit for Extolling Pro-U.S. Dictator

Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- Members of the Council of Bereaved Families of Those Civilians Killed after the Korean War, the Society of April Revolution, the Institute for National Studies and the Press Trade Union of south Korea staged a demonstration in Seoul on August 25 in protest against the farce of unveiling a statue of traitor Syngman Rhee who was ill-famed for hideous sycophancy and dictatorship staged by conservative forces.

The erection of the statue is as shameless an act as defiling the spirit of the April 19 popular uprising and reviving dictatorship, the demonstrators charged.

They stated Syngman Rhee was a dictator who was ousted from power after being judged by the people for his massacres of civilians and election fraud.

They demanded that it be pulled down at once, noting that it is something which should not be allowed to erect the above-said statue in praise of him with the money collected from people as taxes.

That day a demonstrator staged protest, standing in the way of the U.S. ambassador in Seoul when he was going back after taking part in the unveiling ceremony.
