S. Korean Police Closes Hanchongryon Homepage

Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The south Korean police on August 26 forcibly closed the homepage of the Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), the south Korean Yonhap News reported.

The police collaborated with the Broadcasting and News Service Committee, charging that the homepage carried "data benefiting the enemy" to praise or publicize the system of the north.

This suppression is the second one since the crackdown on the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance of Youth and Students of Korea's Reunification in July last year, the report said.

The south Korean Network for Progress denounced the police fascist violence as a serious human rights abuse.
