Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- Foreign media carried special write-ups and reports to mark the 51st anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership.

The August issue of a Lao newspaper carried an article illustrated with a photo of Kim Jong Il acknowledging the cheers of the crowd.

The political and ideological might of the Korean People's Army and the single-minded unity of the whole society reached the highest level thanks to his Songun leadership for more than 50 years, the paper noted, and continued:

Factories in the field of machine-building industry have been put on a CNC basis and steel, fiber and fertilizer industries have been placed on a Juche basis and light industrial factories modernized at a high level. The shout of the slogan "Push back the Frontiers of Latest Science and Technology!" is heard from the fields of education, public health and literature and the arts. This is the picture of modern Korea whose appearance has changed dramatically.

The State Radio of Laos released a similar report on August 19.

The Iranian paper Iran News on August 18 devoted one whole page to several articles with a photo of Kim Jong Il acknowledging the cheers of the participants in the military parade.

La Prosperite, a paper of Democratic Congo, on August 17 carried an article praising his Songun leadership feats with a photo of him standing in the tribune of honor of the military parade celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.
