Popular Rest System in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 24 (KCNA) -- Rest homes in different parts of the DPRK are crowded with people.

Blue and white-collar workers, together with their families, spend a good time at the health resorts and holiday homes at state expense, enjoying sports games, amusements, cooking and singing contests, sightseeing, sea bathing and angling.

Kwon Phil Su, head of the Rest Management Department of the Ministry of Labor, told KCNA that the state provides funds for the management of rest homes and travel of rest-home visitors.

The rest homes are open for blue and white-collar workers in spring, summer and autumn and for peasants in winter.

Thanks to the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea for promoting public welfare, the number of rest homes has reached more than 800 in the country. It was only 7 in the period of the building of a new country.
