S. Korean Chief Executive Accused of Inciting Confrontation and War

Pyongyang, August 22 (KCN) -- On the very day the Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises were kicked off the south Korean chief executive convened "Ulji meeting of the State Council" in the underground shelter of Chongwadae to finally examine the mobilization posture for a war.

Rodong Sinmun Monday says in a bylined commentary in this regard:

The chief executive talked rubbish about the "era of peace and cooperation" in the "address at a meeting celebrating August 15." The next day he kicked off war exercises for invading the DPRK. This is an intolerable mockery of the public at home and abroad desirous of detente and peace on the Korean Peninsula and a blatant challenge to the DPRK.

If the south Korean ruling quarters persist in the moves to escalate confrontation and ignite a war while remaining hostile toward the DPRK, the inter-Korean relations can never get rid of the present catastrophic phase. The madcap UFG now underway in south Korea clearly proves once again who is real harasser of peace and the worst warmonger who has put the inter-Korean relations at the lowest ebb and driven the situation to the brink of a war.

It is a great miscalculation for the south Korean authorities to think that they can get something through the large-scale saber-ratting kicked off together with outsiders.

If the south Korean conservative ruling forces truly want peace on the peninsula and improved inter-Korean relations, they had better halt the provocative war maneuvers.
