Chinese Cargo Vessel Rescues DPRK Citizens

Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) -- The sailors of a Chinese cargo vessel rescued ten DPRK citizens adrift on the lower River Amnok on Aug. 2.

The drifters, farmers of the Songso Co-op Farm in Sinuiju City, North Phyongan Province, were cutting grass at ebb tide on the bank of the river that day but with the tide at its flow they began to go adrift.

Chinese officials who were doing work for the construction of the DPRK-China River Amnok Bridge sent transport ship Liaodongyun 127 to conduct emergency rescue operation.

The rescued farmers and officials expressed thanks to the Chinese side. The Chinese side said that it was their obligation before the Korean people to move the Koreans more deeply.

The laudable deed of Chinese will always go down in the history of the DPRK-China friendship.
