Tehran, August 18 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Iran in a press conference on August 16 bitterly rejected the West's false report against his country.

The West's media recently reported that Iran is set to build a military base in Syria. This is a lie and is aimed at inventing a pretext to interfere in the internal affairs of the regional countries. It is also aimed to divert elsewhere the social complaints growing in the Western countries and the public attention focused on it, the spokesman said.

Media of Western countries would be well advised to pay attention to the issues arising in their own countries, he noted.
