Beijing, August 17 (KCNA) -- The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China is pushing forward the work to protect Beijing and Tianjin from yellow sand.

The region has formed a green corridor, 400 km long and 1-10 km wide, in the area since 2000.

It planted trees in the area covering 3 691 900 mu in the first half of the year, over 59 percent of the yearly quota for tree planting.
