Japan Urged to Make Apology and Reparation for War Crimes

Pyongyang, August 17 (KCNA) -- Japan should learn a lesson from the disgraceful defeat of the Japanese imperialists, drop the hostile policy toward the DPRK and make earlier apology and reparation for the crimes it committed against the Korean nation in the past, said Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a bylined article.

Japan, far from making sincere admittance, apology and reparation for the hideous crimes against humankind, is adding fresh crimes to those already committed against the Korean people, the article said.

It elaborated on the crimes Japan has committed against the Korean people since its defeat including the evasion of the redress for the past, campaign against the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and sanctions against the DPRK.

The article went on:

Japan's evermore undisguised moves to grab Tok Islets are a prelude to the reinvasion of Korea.

By putting into practice its scenario to stage a comeback to Korea, Japan seeks to retrieve from its failed hostile policy toward the DPRK and evade the redress for its past to the last.

Japan is gravely mistaken, however.

The Japanese imperialists' defeat proved that the reckless militarist war hysteria could never save the destiny of Japan.

Liquidation of the past is a bounden and urgent duty of Japan in light of legal, moral and historical points of view.

This is the only way for Japan to lead a free life, away from the fate of a criminal state.
