Wreaths Laid before Liberation Towers and Cemeteries of Fallen Fighters of Soviet Army

Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- Staff members of the Russian embassy here laid a wreath before the Liberation Tower on Monday to mark the 66th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Ambassador Valery E. Sukhinin and staff members of the Russian embassy, members of the Russian Orthodox Church delegation headed by Yegorievsk Archbishop Mark who is chairman of the Committee for Coordinating Overseas Institutions of the church on a visit to the DPRK and diplomatic envoys of various countries and representatives of international organizations here.

A wreath in the name of the embassy was placed before the tower.

They observed a moment's silence before looking round the tower.

Then, they laid a wreath and bunches of flowers before the cemetery of fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in Sadong District, Pyongyang.

Earlier, they placed bunches of flowers before the Liberation Tower and the Monument to Fallen Fighters of the Soviet Army in Hamhung City, South Hamgyong Province, and Wonsan City, Kangwon Province on August 11.

Meanwhile, the consul general and staff members of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Chongjin, North Hamgyong Province, laid wreaths before the Liberation Tower and the cemetery of fallen fighters of the Soviet Army in Chongjin City on August 13.
