Stop to Gag on Press Called for by Koreans in Japan

Pyongyang, August 12 (KCNA) -- Choson Sinbo, organ of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, Wednesday carried an article titled "Stop at once suppression and conspiratorial racket against 'Minjok 21'".

The article accused the south Korean authorities of kicking up recently a wholesale suppression racket against the magazine Minjok 21 on unreasonable charges that members of its editorial staff conducted espionage at the instruction of someone after being embraced by Koreans in Japan.

This eloquently reveals the anti-reunification nature of the south Korean "government" to stamp out everything related to the June 15 joint declaration, it held.

Recalling that the above-said magazine conducted fair and aboveboard news exchange with media run by Koreans in Japan, the article noted: The south Korean authorities, however, are charging the magazine with espionage and cracking down upon it on charges of violation of the "National Security Law." This self-exposes their sinister and politically-motivated purpose.

It urged the south Korean authorities to stop at once the fascist suppression of all media and personages of political parties and organizations aspiring after peace and reunification.
