Spokesman for DPRK Foreign Ministry on Korean Americans' Reunion with Separated Family Members and Relatives

Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK on Thursday gave the following answer to question put by KCNA as regards the issue of reunion of Korean Americans with their separated families and relatives:

Recently the U.S. side proposed the DPRK to discuss the issue of the above-said reunion through the U.S. Red Cross Society and various official channels.

The DPRK Red Cross Society is positively examining the issue from a humanitarian view-point though hostile relations exist between the DPRK and the U.S.

If both sides promote cooperation, beginning with such humanitarian issues, it will help build mutual confidence required for solving complicated problems in the future.
