Dictatorial Personnel Measure in S. Korea under Fire

Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- A deputy spokesman of the south Korean Democratic Labor Party released a commentary on August 8, urging the present chief executive to withdraw the dictatorial personnel measure.

The commentary referred to a confirmation hearing for Kwon Jae Jin who was newly nominated as minister of Justice the same day.

It is the worst personnel measure that the present chief executive nominated his close confidant as minister of Justice whose mission is to oversee fair law enforcement, it deplored.

It was disclosed at the hearing that the Office of Chief for Civil Administration of Chongwadae, where Kwon was a member, was behind the inspection of civilians that sparked off public furor.

If Kwon holds the post of Justice minister, it would not be possible to hope for correct law enforcement nor would it be possible to expect fair elections for "National Assemblymen" and "president" due next year, it noted.

The commentary urged the immediate retraction of Kwon's nomination to the ministerial post, fearing that it may spark off political uneasiness.
