Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- The DPRK will compete in the third-stage Asian regional preliminaries for the 2014 World Cup.

The DPRK belongs to Group C in the preliminaries, which will take place from September to February next year. It will meet with Japan on September 2 and November 15, Syria on September 6 and February 29 next year and Uzbekistan on October 11 and November 11.

The DPRK will also participate in the preliminaries for the 2012 Asian U-16 Football Championship.

The preliminaries will be held on a round-robin basis, divided into seven groups involving scores of countries and regions.

The league matches of Group E, including the DPRK, will take place in Pyongyang in September. The DPRK will have matches with East Timor on the 8th, Malaysia on the 10th, Singapore on the 13th, Macao, China, on the 15th and China on the 18th.
