Disappearance of National Identity in S. Korea Deplored

Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- Minjok Thongsin, an Internet paper of Koreans in the U.S., on August 1 posted an article deploring the reality of south Korean society in which a decadent American life style is rampant.

The article disclosed that the present authorities of south Korea have become more undisguised in stirring up the atmosphere of disregarding the national culture than any successive rulers, talking about "globalization" since they came to power.

It went on: Foreign words are widely used in south Korean TV and radio broadcasting services and publications. What they aired and reported is full of contents worshiping the U.S. Even most of the songs and dances are copies of American ones.

The reform and opening about which the south Korean authorities talk a great deal are little short of the U.S. call for becoming its slaves.

In order to bring earlier national reunification it is necessary to value and develop the national culture and to this end all Koreans are required to dynamically turn out in the actions to achieve it, the article stressed.
