Flood Hits China

Beijing, August 5 (KCNA) -- Heavy rains have hit Shaanxi Province, China from July 28, causing damage.

According to the Agency of Civil Affairs of the Province on Tuesday, more than 5 080 inhabitants were evacuated and crops in 5 400 hectares of fields damaged. A total of victims numbered 117 000.

Meanwhile, flood hit Yichang City, Hubei Province from July 31 to August 1, leaving 107 900 victims and lots of farmlands and dwelling houses destroyed.

Emergency relief steps are being taken in the afflicted areas.
