Different Countries Strive to Prevent Natural Disasters

Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Different countries are striving to prevent natural disasters.

Iran recently opened the first center for receiving data from satellite in an effort to transmit such animation data to all parts of the country and use them for prevention of natural disasters and agricultural development.

The Brazilian government organized a special relief group made up of medical experts, soldiers and volunteers to rapidly cope with natural disasters.

Thailand set up a disaster alarming center to intensify the work to forecast quake and tidal wave.

In order to settle the shortage of water caused by drought, China and Vietnam are pushing forward the drive to smoothly supply drinking water to inhabitants in the countryside and remote areas till 2015.

Angola is striving to supply drinking water to over 80 percent of the inhabitants in the countryside till 2012 while Ethiopia plans to build 21 200 water supply facilities.

The Nepali government is rebuilding water purifying grounds and supply facilities in different areas of the country till 2017 and Mozambique directs efforts to building reservoirs.

Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Indonesia and Mexico have conducted a tree planting campaign while combating such practices as destroying biological environment.

Multilateral and regional cooperation has been strengthened worldwide to prevent natural disasters.

African countries built the regional disaster prevention center in Kenya and member nations of the Economic Community of West African States set up a regional organization for preventing natural disasters.

ASEAN countries, too, are boosting cooperation with each other to establish a rapid reaction system on natural disasters.
