Chicken-made Health Dishes

Pyongyang, August 5 (KCNA) -- The Korean people, from olden times, have cooked various kinds of health dishes with chicken in summer.

The director of the Folklore Institute under the Academy of Social Sciences, Kong Myong Song, told KCNA the cooking methods differ from locality to locality. What is a usual method is to steam a medium-sized hen with seasoning or sliced garlic in its stomach. There is a saying, "If one takes three chickens steamed with garlic in summertime, he or she will never catch cold in winter."

Chicken soup mixed with insam (ginseng) is another kind of health food in summer.

Chicken boiled without seasoning, stuffed with glutinous rice, insam and forest asiabell, stimulates appetite in hot days. It is also efficacious for diseases.

Chicken-made dishes are popular in restaurants of Korea in the summer days.
