Earthquake Hits Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Japan

Pyongyang, August 5 (KCNA) -- A 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Papua New Guinea on July 31. The epicenter was in its northern waters.

A 6.0-magnitude quake jolted Vanuatu on the same day. The epicenter was in northeastern waters.

Meanwhile, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan on August 1. The epicenter was 20 km deep in the waters of Suruga Bay.

A 5.7-magnitude quake hit Iwate Prefecture that day.
