National Exhibition of August 3 Consumer Goods Opens

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- The national exhibition of August 3 consumer goods opened with due ceremony at the Three-Revolution Exhibition Wednesday.

On display there are more than 122,000 consumer goods of over 10,000 varieties including daily necessities, garments, grass crafts and local farm goods produced by factories, enterprises and housewives' work-teams, reusable goods production work-teams and home workers for welfare service across the country.

Jo Yong Chol, minister of the Foodstuff and Daily Necessities Industry, said in his speech at the ceremony that General Secretary Kim Jong Il has energetically led the work to make sure that consumer goods were produced as a mass movement. Recently, too, he clearly indicated ways of bringing about a turn in this work, the speaker added.

Working people in different parts of the country have conducted a dynamic drive to produce diverse and quality goods including mass consumption goods, true to the intention of Kim Jong Il, achieving signal successes.

The participants went round the exhibition.

The sundry goods for daily use, folklore articles, etc. produced by industrial establishments, direct sales shops and management offices of housewives' work-teams in Pyongyang by use of by-products clearly showcase the devoted efforts of producers.

Drawing attention of visitors are attractive and handy goods produced by housewives' work-teams and reusable goods production teams in various regions including North and South Hamgyong, South Phyongan and Kangwon provinces and Nampho City.
