GNP's Remarks against Jeju Islanders under Fire

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Democratic Labor Party of south Korea in a commentary on July 27 hit out an assemblyman from the "Grand National Party" for his remarks critical of the inhabitants on Jeju Island who opposed the construction of a naval base on the island.

Kim Mu Song, assemblyman from the GNP, called for the police involvement, branding the inhabitants standing against the construction of the base as "pro-north forces", the commentary said.

In the past he said that blaming Japan for its "territorial claim to Tok Islets" may lead to the decrease of the Japanese tourists, openly defending Japan. This had lashed the people into a fury, the commentary noted. He is now unhesitatingly talking about the theory of coloring.

Intolerable is the suppression of the people in their just actions by labeling them "pro-north forces", it said, demanding the assemblyman apologize to the islanders and resign.
