Koreans Benefit from Telemedicine Service

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- The telemedicine service, which started in the DPRK in Juche 99 (2010), has proved successful.

The telemedicine service makes it possible for able doctors to give correct diagnoses and therapies to way-off patients.

Some time ago, a 12-year-old girl residing in South Phyongan Province benefited from the service. She, who had suffered from an intractable disease, had to have one of her legs cut off. But with the help of able doctors in Pyongyang, she recovered from the illness, with her leg left intact.

The Ministry of Public Health plans to expand the telemedicine network throughout the country.

Communication infrastructure projects have been finished in many parts of the country.

The World Health Organization has paid attention to the DPRK's telemedicine service, supplying it with computers, laser printers, digital electrocardiographs, cameras for consultation and other equipment necessary for the service.
