Consumer Goods Production Campaign Gains Momentum

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- The campaign to produce August 3 consumer goods in the DPRK is paying off profusely in the on-going advance for a great surge in the efforts to build a thriving nation.

Industrial establishments, industrial goods general stores, direct sales stores and other commercial service institutions across the country organized the said consumer goods producing units of various forms including housewives' workteams and reusable goods production workteams in conformity with specific conditions. The number of those units increased to more than 10,000 this year and the ranks of producers more than doubled as compared with that in the same period of last year.

Cities and counties have made an effective use of raw materials to suit the characteristics of localities, thus boosting the production of varieties of consumer goods 2.5 times this year as compared with that last year.

The said campaign now under way across the country is a mass movement for steadily increasing the production of consumer goods by tapping all reserves and possibilities without big investment of the state and pooling the wisdom and creative ingenuity of the masses. It is, therefore, playing an increasing role in the development of the light industry.

Officials and other working people in the field of light industry and consumer goods producers across the country are working hard to raise the level of specialization in the production of consumer goods favored by people and popular on world markets for their long tradition.
