War Victory Day of Korean People Marked by Ecuadorian Organization

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- The Ecuadorian Preparatory Committee for Commemorating the Centenary of Birth of President Kim Il Sung on July 25 issued a bulletin on the 58th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The bulletin in an article said that President Kim Il Sung led the war to victory and the U.S. imperialists could not but sign the armistice agreement after suffering a disgraceful defeat.

The DPRK has striven to replace the armistice agreement with a peace treaty but the U.S. has turned aside this while intensifying, in league with the south Korean authorities, the anti-DPRK moves to aggravate the situation on the Korean Peninsula, it noted.

General Secretary Kim Jong Il has shattered the anti-DPRK moves of the U.S. and the south Korean authorities with his Songun politics to reliably defend the sovereignty of the country and the socialist system, it stated.

A peace treaty should be concluded between the DPRK and the U.S., the bulletin said, calling upon the world progressives to further strengthen the solidarity movement demanding the U.S. troop pullout from south Korea and supporting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.
