US Urged to Conclude Peace Treaty with DPRK--Swedish Personages

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- Personages of Sweden on July 25 issued statements to mark the 58th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

The Korean Armistice Agreement was signed on July 27, 1953, Eric Andersson, international secretary of the Communist Party, noted, saying: This agreement has so far existed between the DPRK and the U.S. and there has continued on the Korean Peninsula the dangerous situation under which another war may break out anytime.

The KAA has already long forfeited its mission and role as an institutional mechanism deterring tension and danger of war in the peninsula, he said, and went on:

This agreement should be replaced with a peace treaty in order to ensure peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the rest of the world.

The U.S. should come out for concluding a peace treaty without delay.

Christer Lundgren, chairman of the Sweden-Korea Friendship Association, noted that after the ceasefire the U.S. has constantly threatened the DPRK, aggravating the military tension on the peninsula.

The U.S. aggressive policy for confrontation poses a serious threat to not only the Korean people but also the world progressives and global peace, he said.

The progressive mankind is strongly urging the U.S. to conclude a peace treaty with the DPRK, he stressed.
