S. Korean Authorities' Fascist Suppression Slammed
Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Democratic Labor Party of south Korea on July 25 issued a commentary denouncing the authorities for their fascist suppression of the forces opposed to the construction of the Jeju naval base.

The police and the military authorities walked off the chief of the Kangjong Village Society and two others, arrested the chairman of the Inhabitants Measure Committee for Opposing the Jeju Naval Base and one more person, the commentary said. They also took a fascist action of demanding 14 inhabitants pay huge compensation for damage.

Such moves of the "government" are aimed to turn Jeju Island into a U.S. war outpost even infringing upon the people's vital rights, the commentary charged.

The Kangjong village is being scorched due to the authorities' repressive moves and Jeju Island is, in fact, under the state of martial law, it deplored.

This is little short of branding the people opposed to the construction of the naval base and determined to protect their land as the enemy, it held.

It demanded the authorities give up its attempt to convert the Kangjong village into a military base and immediately withdraw all the repressive armed forces from the village. If they turn down this, they will not escape the people's judgment, it warned.
