10th Anniversary of Visit to Russia Marked
Pyongyang, July 28 (KCNA) -- A photo and book exhibition opened at the Pyongyang Center for Cultural Exchange with Foreign Countries with due ceremony on Thursday to mark the 10th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's historic visit to Russia and the adoption of the DPRK-Russia Moscow Declaration.

Displayed in the venue were photographs such as a photo showing Kim Jong Il meeting with former Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, those dealing with his visit to Russia, those introducing Russia and Russian books.

Present there were Chairperson of the Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Kim Jong Suk, Vice-chairman of the Committee Mun Jae Chol who is chairman of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association, officials concerned, working people in the city, Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Valery E. Sukhinin and staff members of his embassy here and the delegation of Russkiy Mir Foundation of Russia.

Speeches were made there.

Kim Jong Suk said that Kim Jong Il paid a historic visit to Russia to boost the ties of DPRK-Russia friendship and make an undying contribution to developing the bilateral relations.

She expressed the belief that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries would develop favorably in different fields.

Valery E. Sukhinin said that Kim Jong Il's visit to the Russian Federation marked an important landmark in the development of the Russia-DPRK relations and contributed to expanding cooperation between the two countries.

He wished the Korean people fresh success in their struggle for building a thriving nation.

On the same day the participants watched at Taedongmun Cinema DPRK documentary films "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il pays an official visit to the Russian Federation" August 4-5, Juche 90 (2001) and "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il pays an unofficial visit to cities of the Russian Federation and sojourns there" July 26-August 18, Juche 90 (2001).
