Secondary School in DPRK Renamed after Martyr Luo Shengjiao
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- A ceremony of renaming Sakchang Secondary School in Songchon County, South Phyongan Province, after Luo Shengjiao, martyr of the Chinese People's Volunteers, took place on Monday.

Luo saved a drowning Korean boy at the cost of his life at the age of 21 after rushing to the Korean front for fight under the banner of resisting America and aiding Korea, safeguarding the home and defending the motherland during the last Fatherland Liberation War.

A decree of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly on renaming the school after Luo Shengjiao was read out and the signboard of the school "Luo Shengjiao Secondary School" was put up.

Then followed speeches.

Ri Man Ho, chairman of the Songchon County People's Committee, said the renaming of the school after Luo at a time when the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the DPRK-China treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance was marked reflected the noble intention of leader Kim Jong Il to hand over the baton of the DPRK-China friendship to the generations to come.

The DPRK would further consolidate the DPRK-China friendship together with the Chinese comrades in the spirit of the agreement reached by the top leaders of the two countries, he said.

Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Liu Hongcai said martyr Luo Shengjiao recorded a beautiful chapter in the history of the Sino-DPRK friendship by displaying the internationalist spirit.

President Kim Il Sung wrote his autograph in high praise of the feats of the martyr, he noted.

The promulgation of the decree on renaming the school after Luo Shengjiao shows the feelings of friendship of the Party, government and people of the DPRK toward the party, government and people of China, he stressed.

Prior to the ceremony, the participants laid bouquets before the grave of Luo before observing a moment's silence.

Meanwhile, an agreement on establishing the friendly ties between Luo Shengjiao Secondary School and the primary school under the College of Education of Jishou University in Hunan Province, China was signed on July 15.
