S. Korea: Authorities' Suppression Assailed
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- Students and citizens of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on July 20 in protest against the "government" authorities' reckless repression. They are now under the authorities' persecution for the mere reason that they participated in the candlelight rally for settlement of the registration fee issue.

In the press conference speakers accused the police of issuing summons to at least 200 students and inhabitants involved in the candlelight rally to appear at the police station.

Such deed intended to control rallies and demonstrations is evidently a violation of the people's basic rights, they said.

At the end of the conference they went to the Police Agency in group in token of their protest.

When the police checked them from going to the agency, they declared that they would strongly counter the suppression of the candlelight actions, rejecting the authorities' investigation.

Meanwhile, the south Korean Federation of University Students in the 21st Century said on July 22 that it would continue the candlelight rally for settlement of the registration fee issue at Chonggye Square in Seoul.
