S. Korea: Teachers Protest "Government's" Repression
Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- The Teachers Union of south Korea in a commentary on July 18 denounced the "government" authorities' crackdown.

The Ministry of Science and Technology on July 11 urged again a heavy disciplinary step against teachers of the Union who participated in the campaign to publish declaration on the situation in 2009, the commentary noted.

This is a reckless suppression and provocation of the present "government" to the teachers and people desirous of progressive education, it said, adding:

The UN Human Rights Council expressed concern about the fact that members of the Union have been investigated, dismissed and put under surveillance for the mere reason that they published the peaceful declaration. And it adopted a report recommending the "government" to ensure their freedom of expression and rights.

Such behavior of the "government" as persisting in suppression of union members can never be pardoned, the commentary said.
