Kim Yong Jin, chairman of the Education Commission who doubles as chairman of the DPRK-Cuba Solidarity Committee, officials concerned and working people in Pyongyang were on hand.

Kim Yong Jin noted in his speech that 58 years ago the Cuban revolutionaries and patriotic people made the first gun-report of the revolution under the leadership of Fidel Castro Ruz.

The Cuban people under the leadership of the Communist Party have advanced along the road of socialism while repulsing the imperialists' aggression and interference, he said.

He stressed that the Korean people would extend invariable support and solidarity to the Cuban people who maintain their revolutionary principle.

Jose Manuel Galego Montano said that the Cuban people deem it their pride to have had special relations with the Korean people under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.

The Cuban people will as ever strengthen solidarity and cooperation with the Korean people, smashing the imperialists' aggression and provocative moves, the ambassador said.

He expressed belief that the Korean people would open the gate to a thriving nation in 2012 by speeding up the economic construction.

After the meeting the participants watched a Cuban feature film.
