China Reaffirms Stand to Develop Friendly Ties with DPRK
Beijing, July 16 (KCNA) -- Hong Lei, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of China, reaffirmed the country's stand to steadily develop the friendly ties with the DPRK at a regular press briefings held in Beijing on July 14.

Hong said:

The China-DPRK treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance has played positive role in promoting the development of Sino-DPRK relations and defending the regional peace and stability for 50 years since its conclusion.

The Chinese side understands that it is common interests to seek negotiated settlements of issues, defend peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and denuclearize it and ensure long-term stability on the peninsula.

This is the most fundamental starting point and target for China when approaching the Korean Peninsula issue.

We will direct efforts to steadily developing the Sino-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations and play a constructive role in defending the regional peace and stability.
