Police Suppression Protested in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- Civic and public organizations of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on July 13 to condemn the police for ruthlessly suppressing the actions for vital rights.

Speakers at the conference noted that the police on July 9 assaulted the participants in the actions to support the workers on a sit-in strike in protest against the massive lay-off by the Hanjin Heavy Industries Co. Ltd.

The police fired toxic tear liquid containing carcinogen material at the masses mixed with children and old men, many of them suffering pain, they pointed out.

The police repression left some of them wounded and a large number of people including the crippled were walked away, they noted, adding this deed can not be justified with any reason.

They demanded the authorities immediately dismiss those concerned including the director of the Police Agency.
