US Urged to Replace Korean Armistice Agreement with Peace Agreement
Pyongyang, July 14 (KCNA) -- The Oceanic Committee for Solidarity with the Peaceful Reunification of Korea issued a statement on the occasion of the month of international solidarity with the Korean people.

The statement recalled that the DPRK has always proposed the U.S. government to replace the armistice agreement with a peace agreement on the principles laid down in the agreement since it was concluded between the DPRK and the U.S. in the Korean Peninsula 58 years ago.

Despite the efforts of the DPRK government and people to sign a peace agreement the U.S. has persistently objected to it, pursuing a hostile policy toward the DPRK while keeping the U.S. forces equipped with nuclear weapons and military bases in south Korea, it noted.

The statement demanded the U.S. forces pull out of south Korea at once and the U.S. replace the Korean Armistice Agreement with a lasting peace agreement.

The said committee expressed belief that the Korean people would reunify the country under the banner of "By our nation itself" in accordance with the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, it stressed.
