Meeting of Activists of Chongryon Held
Pyongyang, July 12 (KCNA) -- A meeting of activists of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) took place at the Korean Hall of Culture in Tokyo on Sunday. It was held to bring about a new heyday in the movement of Koreans in Japan.

Among those present at the meeting were Ho Jong Man, chief vice-chairman of the Chongryon Central Standing Committee, and other officials and compatriots.

A message of greetings to the participants in the meeting from the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly was read out.

Vice-Chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon Nam Sung U made a report which was followed by speeches.

The reporter said the meeting was aimed to generalize the successes and experience gained in the "90-day campaign" and surely lay a springboard for bringing about a fresh heyday in the movement of Koreans in Japan in the significant 2012, the centenary of birth of President Kim Il Sung.

Laying the springboard means consolidating the organizational and ideological base of Chongryon and conducting brisk national education, the lifeline of the movement of Koreans in Japan, work with the young Koreans who would carry forward the patriotic work generation after generation and work with people in commerce, a powerful engine for the work of Chongryon, and thus make the Korean community prosperous so that compatriots may enjoy happiness and have a bright future, he noted.

He called upon all the officials and activists of Chongryon to unite single-mindedly around leader Kim Jong Il, feeling highly proud of being descendants of Kim Il Sung's nation, and emerge victors by providing the springboard for ushering in a fresh heyday in 2012 at any cost.

The meeting adopted a letter to Kim Jong Il.

Then followed a reception.

A photo exhibition on the meeting was held in the hall on the same day.
