Rodong Sinmun Observes World Population Day
Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- It is one of the major issues in settling the issue of world population to ensure gender equality and promote women's reproductive health, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in a bylined article dedicated to the World Population Day.

It goes on:

UN calls upon the governments of various countries to implement the action program of the Cairo international conference on population and development and achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals in order to ensure gender equality and promote women's reproductive health.

The women in the DPRK are creditably performing their mission and role as full-fledged mistresses of society as sex equality is fully guaranteed in it.

Thanks to the benevolent healthcare policy enforced by the Workers' Party of Korea and the state medical care for women's reproductive health is given on a high level while state investment in the work is on the steady increase.

The law on the rights of the women and the law on the rights of the children vividly reflect the efforts of the government of the DPRK to fully guarantee the rights and interests of the women and children at families, society and in education and public health.

The DPRK will as ever make positive efforts for the settlement of the population issue and attainment of the UN MDGs and boost the cooperation with international organizations, the article concludes.
