Nicaragua, Indonesia Combat Drugs Trafficking
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Nicaragua and Indonesia are combating drugs trafficking.

The cause of the drugs crimes rampant worldwide at present is capitalism fostering the consumption of drugs. Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega Saavedra said this in a speech at a recent event.

The country is directing efforts to anti-drugs trafficking to attain achievements.

The Nicaraguan army seized 113 ton and 229 kg of cocaine and 11 ton and 877 kg of marihuana and 489 kg of heroine in the past ten years.

It confiscated more than 2,000 weapons of various kinds, planes and trucks used by the drug criminals.

2 ton and 655 kg of cocaine were dealt with and 176 criminals arrested this year.

The Indonesian government will ramp up its offensive against traffickers in the "war on drugs." Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said this in a speech at a ceremony on Sunday.

"We must be more ambitious and aggressive in our crime-busting efforts," Yudhoyono said.

He also called for the strengthening of regional and international cooperation in the war on drugs.

According to information released by the UN recently, the worldwide annual death toll caused by drugs has reached nearly 200,000.
