Comedian Sin Bul Chul
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- Sin Sang Hak was a celebrated comedian, writer and poet with uncommon sense, nimble wit and ingenious narrative art.

Born in 1907 in Kaesong City in the central part of Korea, he used to move people to laughter with his gifted eloquence.

Driven by feelings of hatred for the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists, he changed his name as Sin Bul Chul, reproaching himself for his birth.

Unafraid of the Japanese imperialists' suppression, he wrote comedies fraught with anti-Japanese sentiments and performed them alone.

During the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), he wrote many comedies conducive to the victory of the Korean people in the war.

In the post-war period, he created and performed such comedies as "'President' Alarmed by the Appeal" and "March of Downfall".

He died at the end of the 1960s before finishing the compilation of the book "History of Korean Comedies".

"Collection of Sin Bul Chul's Comedies" was published in the country after his death.
