Salute to 17th AU Summit
Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Tuesday sent a congratulatory message to the 17th Summit of the African Union (AU) to be held in Malabo.

Kim in the message said that ideas and efforts of the AU for ensuring peace and stability of the continent and achieving its political and economic integration command widespread support and sympathy of the developing countries in their drive to powerfully spur social progress and independent development of the region and establish fair and equal international relations.

He manifested the firm solidarity of the Korean people with the just cause of the African people for building independent, prosperous and powerful Africa and reiterated the invariable stand of the DPRK government to boost the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation with the AU and its member states.

He sincerely hoped that the summit, which will mark an important occasion in achieving the peace, security and sustainable development of Africa, would yield good fruits in keeping with the common desire and interests of its member states.
