Actions for Solution to Registration Fee Issue Go on in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- A meeting for the settlement of the registration fee issue was held at Chonggye Square in Seoul on June 24. It was co-sponsored by the south Korean Federation of University Students in the 21st Century and Internet radio Voice of People.

Attending it were citizens and students in Seoul and lawmakers of opposition parties, more than 1,000 in all.

Students are going to school while working and the graduates are saddled with tens of millions of won of debt as the authorities are indifferent to the settlement of the registration fee issue, speakers deplored.

The registration fee issue can be settled if only the policy of reducing taxes for the rich is withdrawn, they noted, calling upon all the people to turn out in the action for the solution to the issue.

After the meeting the participants held a candlelight rally.

Prior to the meeting, members of the Federation, the Youth Solidarity, the Confederation of Trade Unions, the Democratic Labor Party and other organizations and political parties held a press conference at the square demanding the hike of the minimum wage and the implementation of the commitment to halve registration fee.

On the same day students in Pusan area occupied the Pusan office of the "Grand National Party" and staged a strike in demand of the settlement of the registration fee issue.

Then the students and members of political parties and organizations called a press conference outside the office and urged the authorities to shape a correct registration fee policy.
