Okinawa Leaders Slam Japan-US Deal on Futenma Base
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- Local leaders in Okinawa Prefecture vented their anger against the central government on Wednesday as Japan reaffirmed with the United States a controversial plan to relocate a key U.S. base within the prefecture.

"It is virtually impossible to deliver a relocation plan that cannot gain the acceptance of the local people," said the governor of Okinawa.

He called on the central government to relocate the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma Air Station out of the prefecture.

The mayor of Ginowan said "The Japanese government is only looking at the United States in the negotiations."
