The June 18th issue of the Ethiopian paper Reporter carried a portrait of Kim Jong Il and an article praising the great feats he performed in consolidating the single-minded unity of the leader, the party and the masses and turning the DPRK into an invincible socialist fortress.

The June 19th issue of the Vietnamese paper Nhan Dan carried a photograph of Pyongyang and an article titled "The Korean people's cause of state building".

The article said:

The WPK has successfully advanced the cause of building a thriving nation despite the imperialists' moves to stifle the DPRK.

The WPK has always put primary efforts into giving full play to the mental power of the popular masses in the building of a thriving nation. It has also attached importance to the military affairs and scientific and technological development.

The army and the people of the DPRK have made signal successes in building a thriving nation under the leadership of the WPK.

The Myanmar paper The Voice on the same day praised Kim Jong Il for developing the WPK to successfully guide the cause of socialism.
