Taedong River Culture
Pyongyang, June 22 (KCNA) -- The Taedong River culture is one of the world's five ancient cultures.

Ancient Korea, founded in the early 30th century B.C., created civilization with Pyongyang as the centre.

Unearthed relics and remains testify to the fact that the Taedong River basin is one of the world's culture cradles, where agriculture, bronze tools, earthenware, astronomy and letters were developed through primitive, ancient and neolithic stages of human evolution.

In particular, dolmens, stone tombs and ruined communities, castles and houses discovered in the Taedong River basin prove that Pyongyang is a birthplace of ancient civilization.

In Juche 87 (1998), the History Society of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on the basis of many material evidences, decided to name the culture of Tangun Korea developed with Pyongyang as the centre the Taedong River culture, and declared it one of the world's five ancient cultures.
