Present were heads of state of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, SCO member nations, and presidents and government delegates of countries which have qualifications for observer and delegates of international and regional organizations.

The meeting dealt with issues of ensuring regional stability and security, boosting cooperation in economic and humanitarian fields and continuing to intensify the combat against terrorism, separatism, extremism, drug trafficking and arms smuggling. Also exchanged there were views on international issues of mutual concern.

At the end of it an Astana Declaration marking the 10th anniversary of SCO was signed.

China was elected to be chairman of the next-term organization.
