They declared this in a joint appeal on June 15, the 11th anniversary of the publication of the joint declaration.

The adoption of the joint declaration in June 2000 was a great event which replaced the history of national division recorded with distrust and confrontation by a new history of reconciliation, unity, peace and reunification, the appeal said, and went on:

The way of visits, contacts, dialogue and meeting for reunification remains blocked between the north and the south at present and only the atmosphere of confrontation and war is prevailing between them.

This is obviously attributable to the denial of the joint declaration and the stir up of the confrontation between compatriots.

Moreover, the action taken finally to disallow the event common to the nation marking the 11th anniversary of the joint declaration in Kaesong which NGOs in the north, south and abroad agreed upon and pushed forward is an open negation of the national concord, peace and reunification.

Such act for perpetuating the national division aimed at scuttling the national unity, cooperation and exchange and seeking to escalate the confrontation will be clearly recorded in history and will certainly be punished.

Let all the fellow countrymen get united for implementing the joint declaration.

This is a promise and determination made by All-Korean Committee for Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration before the fellow countrymen.

The implementation of the joint declaration is the only way of overcoming the present reality in which the situation is inching close to an armed conflict.

The said committee will take the lead in promoting the national reconciliation and unity and achieving peace and independent reunification.

A stumbling block is lying in the way of implementing the joint declaration but it is temporary and no force on earth can stem the violent trend of the June 15 era, stressed the appeal.
