S. Hamgyong Province Takes on New Look
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- South Hamgyong Province on the east coast of Korea has taken on a new look thanks to the devoted effort of its people.

The Ryongjon Fruit Farm in Pukchong County built a new orchard covering hundreds of hectares in May and the Toksong Fruit Farm in Toksong County has also enlarged its orchard area.

The reconstruction project of Kowon-Hamhung highway has come to an end.

The Kwangmyongsong Saltern contributes to the development of the nation's chemical industry and locally-controlled industry and the improvement of the people's living standard.

Pujon and Jangjin counties built large potato seed stores and potato starch factories.

Sinhung County cultivated some 510 hectares of new land on the banks of the River Songchon.

The Hamhung City Raw Material Farm cultivated new land covering hundreds of hectares and Sudong-ri in Hoesang District, Hamhung City turned 120 hectares of land into rice fields.

The Tongbong and Suhung cooperative farms in Hamju County are models in double and triple cropping for a year. The Wondong Cooperative Farm in Sinhung County has increased grain output by producing large quantities of Hukbosan fertilizer.

The province has built some power stations along the Kumjin, Songchon and Tokji rivers.

The Songhung Reservoir was built in Kowon County to prevent flood damage and irrigate fields.

Goat farms in the province produce varieties of milk-processed goods like cheese and butter.

The Kwangpho Duck Farm and the Sinhung Fish Farm were reconstructed successfully on an expansion basis.

The province also has many beauty spots and recreation grounds on the coast and in mountains.
