Ruined House of Ancient Times Discovered
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- Archaeologists of the Archaeological Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences recently discovered a ruined house belonging to the period of top-shaped vessels (late 4th millennium BC-late 2nd millennium BC) in the DPRK.

The house unearthed in Woldang-ri, Sinwon County, South Hwanghae Province, covers 16 square meters.

An arrowhead, plane, crescent-shaped knife, axes, spinning wheel and other stoneware and earthenware pieces were found on the floor of the house.

Among the earthenware pieces, only two top-shaped vessels remained unbroken.

In the centre of the floor was a 5-10cm thick heap of burnt earth 60cm across, which is believed to be a firepot site.

Burnt stumps of wooden pillars were also found on the edges of ruined walls.

The discovery is of weighty significance in studying remains and relics dating back to the period of the top-shaped vessels.
